Why Sock Monkeys for the Cure? Why NOT?

Sock Monkeys for the Cure are designed to honor breast cancer survivors, or to remember those who have lost the battle. I began creating them as a fundraiser for my Breast Cancer 3Day Walk in January 2008. You can find them on Ebay under "sock monkey for the cure", when they are listed for sale, or check on Etsy - look for "WiggysStuff." Each Sock Monkey is named for someone - their personalities are captured in the outfits and attitude!

Please enjoy these images of sock monkeys who have found new homes all around North America! If you are interested in ordering a special personalized one for yourself or your BFF, please contact me at wendy[at]sockmonkeysforthecure.com
- thanks!

Sock Monkeys have been around since 1951, according to "Everything's Coming Up Sock Monkeys!", a definitive book on this folk art toy. (Hmmmm... I've been around since 1952... coincidence???) Sock monkeys are truly Americana, they have had a place in many homes and have been much-loved "friends" to many children. Sock Monkeys remind us of happier, less complicated days. They bring a smile to many, perhaps a chuckle, and maybe a memory of a loved one.

EXCITING NEWS!

Sock Monkeys for the Cure is now a community partner with the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute in Detroit, Michigan. 50% of net profits of products sold on our eStores will be donated to the Breast & Cervical Cancer Control Program, serving under-insured women ages 40-64 in Detroit. Please take a look... the Sock Monkeys for the Cure Pin-Up Calendar (on Zazzle.com) is too darn cute!
